Dusty Stacks
So we were going to take down Dusty Stacks Bookstore, get rid of the books, and do who knows what with the figurines and DVDs. Things were underway to do just that but we weren't quite there; in the meantime, I decided to finally add my Buffy books to the inventory, since I always see where people have searched for them but they weren't on the site. And somewhere above my head was this flash of lightning (it made a sound like "Duuu-oih!") that made me realize that there wasn't any easy way for people to order books on the site. The only way was to exchange a whole lot of emails. And there wasn't any way at all for people to add shipping on either books or figurines (hence the order I recently lost from a very crabby guy, but I won't go into that, it's over, it's done, and ta-ta).

Now, thanks to a couple of wonderful techs at PayPal, this is all fixed. The shipping one was changed a couple of weeks ago on the Figurines Page (where all the neat skeletons, dragons and fairies live) and yesterday a PayPal tech emailed me a custom-made button. Said button is now prominently displayed on the Books Page, and I am a happy camper. I also went through the site and fixed a whole bunch of little and annoying stuff that had gotten away from me, updated the Newletter, and generally smoothed out the whole thing.

I don't know if this will save my little bookselling business, but I made the decision to hold off until January 2007 to see how things go. As The Husband ([info]westonochse) knows, I have exhibited a nearly pathological resistance to letting go of the nearly 2,000 books in my garage (only about 1,000 of which are inventoried). Every time he made noises about putting a bunch of book boxes in the truck and driving them "away," I cringed, made faces, took aspirin, drank White Zinfandel, and got depressed.

So let me just remind everyone that we have great books, skeleton, fairy, dragon and fantasy gifts (including awesome little boxes and candleholders), and some of the tackiest and most absurd DVDs you've ever heard of. We even have T-Shirts, although we have more of some stuff than others in that area.

Oh, and hey-- Christmas is coming.

::evil grin::

Thanks!
